Who we are

About the cover crop partnership

The Cover Crops Guide was founded by award-winning Yorkshire farmer Angus Gowthorpe, who runs a 500-acre mixed farming enterprise near York. It was launched in 2023 in partnership with the project’s steering group: The Farmer Scientist Network, a group supported by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, David Purdy Soils, Kings Crops/FrontierNewcastle University and AHDB. In 2024, AHDB took on the overall responsibility for the guidance and will continue to work with the steering group to develop the guide.
